Go the Distance

Due to three car accidents I was taken out of the workforce. The injuries sustained by the accident were soft tissue damage which caused a multitude of problems that could not be seen by the general public, or the insurance companies involved with my case. It was necessary for me to hire a lawyer because of difficulties proving my injuries. I went to one of the most prestigious law firms in Canada, located in Toronto. Unfortunately, the lawyer put on my case was incompetent and inexperienced. Against my better judgment, and through his lack of knowledge, I was poorly advised to sign off my pay benefits with the promise of a better settlement within lawsuit in the future by my lawyer. As it turned out my lawyer was terminated from the firm and new lawyer was given my case to try to “fix” the error. A settlement was made which fell far from what I should have received.

Knowing full well that my whole case was handled wrong, I was advised to sue the law firm and the first lawyer for incompetency. The problem was that after seeing seven lawyers to see if they would take my case, each one declined stating there were no wrongs committed.

Just about ready to give up I met Mr. Donald Granatstein. I spoke to him briefly about my case and he agreed to have look at it and advise me further. Within days Mr. Granatstein called me to say that yes, I did indeed have a case of malpractice and he would be willing to act on my behalf as legal counsel. It was long haul and very frustrating at times, but Mr. Granatstein stayed the course. Through the years it took to handle my case Mr. Granatstein got to know me, and my wife, well. We also became friends. One lawyer, Donald Granatstein, fought against the insurance company of a very large law firm in the battle for our financial future. We were victorious!

On Aug 12, 1999, my family’s lives were changed forever. As victims of a vehicle accident, where not only my husband and I were injured, but worse, our children were as well. I first met Donald Granatstein in October, 2010. I had spent several years working with another lawyer on a family law matter and was disappointed with the lack of progress. Also during this time I had a motorcycle accident. I consulted a few other lawyers. None of them were willing to take my case or even meet with me to discuss it. .
